Baking Soda
Baking soda is probably in every home. Most often hostesses add it to dough – as a leavening agent. But the fact that the useful properties of baking soda can be useful in everyday life and in home cosmetics, and even in folk medicine, many people probably do not even realize.
In cooking, baking soda is used most often, and we are not just talking about baking. Soda is successfully used in the preparation of various drinks, meat, vegetables and so on.
We use baking soda almost everywhere. When we buy something, we buy a lot of boxes. Baking soda can’t clean everything, but it can clean almost anything. Find places in the house where you can use baking soda.
Water tornado
You may have seen scientific experiments on volcano about what happens when you pour baking soda over vinegar. But baking soda not only entertains you, but also greatly improves odor and drainage efficiency. Refresh your drain by adding baking soda under running hot water. Baking soda can be used in combination with hot water to clear clogs in drains.

Baking soda for the washing machine

Baking soda for the refrigerator
If you’ve ever cleaned your refrigerator with baking soda, the best way to use it inside your refrigerator is to open the drawer and put baking soda in it. Sprinkle baking soda over the bottom of the storage drawer. Baking soda can also be used to remove stains from the refrigerator. This came in handy when someone spilled a large amount of cherry juice on the floor of our refrigerator. We used baking soda to turn it from pink to pure white.
All odors are absorbed by the surfaces inside the unit. Over time, this creates an unpleasant “background” of a mixture of smells that are not always pleasant. Therefore, sooner or later you will have to decide what to clean the refrigerator inside.
The first thing to remember: if you regularly monitor the quality of food in your refrigerator, you will encounter this problem less often.
Baking soda for pots and pans
Pots and pans are my nemesis in the kitchen. If you have good pots and pans, you want them to shine. Remove the fried food from them and their appearance will please you. Try cooking baking soda in an enameled or copper pan. If you have a stained pan, baking soda is great for removing or at least reducing the appearance of stains. Pots that have cooking odors can also be cleaned by soaking in baking soda.
Baking soda is the perfect mild abrasive. It is very important to remember that dry baking soda is ineffective, but dissolved in water is effective! Accordingly, when mechanically cleaning dirt on dishes with baking soda, you need to add a small amount of water to the surface of the poured baking soda.
Baking soda for microwave oven
Baking soda is an excellent microwave oven cleaner because it removes grease, odors and food particles stuck to the microwave. Baking soda also removes oil and tomato stains. Baking soda will surprise you in the microwave, and you won’t have to worry about chemical residue.
In order for the appliance to last as long as possible, regular proper care is essential. There is a natural desire to thoroughly clean the inside and outside quickly, economically and with minimum effort.
The triple positive effect of baking soda:
- Cleans grease, cinders and other impurities;
- Gives shine to the surface;
- Helps eliminate unpleasant odors;
Baking soda for the oven
Baking soda is the easiest way to clean your oven, and without the use of chemicals. Baking soda can get rid of oil, residual odors and hard stains in the oven. Baking soda is easy to use. Make sure the oven is completely cool before you scatter baking soda over the bottom. Dilute a bucket of baking soda with water so that it is moist but not saturated. Repeat the procedure every few hours and watch as the food particles in the oven begin to melt.
Baking soda is not a bad option for cleaning the oven, but it is not the most effective. Baking soda can handle a fresh layer of dirt, but stale grease can be difficult to deal with. It’s better to make a paste of salt, baking soda and water – whatever you have on hand.
Mix it all in a separate bowl:
- A quarter cup of baking soda;
- 2 tablespoons of salt;
- A little warm water;
Baking soda for the dishwasher
We spend a lot of money on dishwasher detergent. A small amount of borax and baking soda can be used to make an inexpensive and very effective homemade dishwasher detergent. Also, adding a small amount of baking soda to the dishwasher rinse cycle will help freshen the machine and get rid of the dirt and grime inside.
The base of baking soda is sodium bicarbonate (Na2CO3). This is the alkali that detergents and cleaners are made of (and it is this substance). They break down stubborn dirt, break down grease and can clean all kinds of kitchen utensils, from plates to pans.
Baking soda can be a complete component of a detergent or detergent gel or cleaner (to remove limescale, plaque, and streaks).
The calcined counterpart is more effective than baking soda, so it requires careful handling and careful rinsing of dishes.
